Silver Textured Heart KeumBoo Necklace
I textured silver using linen, then added a wall of silver Id shaped into a heart.
Once the piece was cut and filed smooth, I added a heart of keumboo.
KeumBoo is an ancient Korean technique, whereby 24ct gold foil is bonded using heat and pressure to depletion gilded silver.
Depletion gilding is a process of repeated heating, quenching and soaking in acid until a surface of fine silver appears on the sterling silver alloy.
I oxidised the inside of the heart to make the gold pop.
The pendant is supplied on a sterling silver rounded box chain, measuring approximately 18 long.
Please note, this is for the exact piece in the photograph.
