Antique Victorian Gloves French Kid Leather Polychrome Embroidered Circa 1870s AF
A very pretty and very well made pair of French stitched kid leather gloves with silk embroidered floral sprays.
All expertly seamed including fingers, side seam and top elbow hem.
This beautiful pair of gloves were previously on show in a frame, sadly the previous owner erroneously used sticking tabs to secure them in the frame hence the yellow remains from the tabs.
Inside the gloves are several sets of printed numbers, in faded sepia 13 x 6504 28 28 and 13 x 580 264 in black ink pen.
Size: 13.5 long, 2.75 wide at the thumb area and 4.25 wide at the elbow.
Condition: Unworn but as mentioned 3 rectangular areas of old adhesive residue to each glove from previous poor display method.
See The Visual History of Costume Accessories by Valerie Cumming page 116 for a similar pair see last image A very pretty pair that display well with other antique accessories and Jewellery.
